Home of Hope employs a small number of office staff from the local community. The Founding Director liaises with the Malawian Government and business community to help raise funds and ensure we interact smoothly with government. Our Executive Director manages our day to day operations, including ultimate decisions on budget prioritisation and spending. We also have a human resources manager, a finance manager, an accountant and a cashier.
We also employ a number of teachers for our schools.
Our house mothers are usually widows. They are referred to us by their local church or village chief. They are paid a small allowance, which they usually send to relatives, as we supply most of their daily needs (shelter, food).
To run our farm, we also employ seasonal farm labourers. Many of them are employed as required and ask us to pay them with food, rather than money.
